It has taken me many years of practice to get comfortable with makeup. After ten years experimenting with it, I have finally found the perfect products that help me achieve a natural makeup look. I use this same routine every day so that I can always step outside with a natural, glowy face. The best part about my routine is that all of the companies I use are cruelty-free. Thanks to lots of research on Cruelty-Free Kitty, I have been able to make most of my makeup collection cruelty-free and vegan. It was pretty difficult for me because I made the decision to stop purchasing makeup from companies that are owned by other corporations that are not cruelty-free. Luckily, Cruelty-Free Kitty has the perfect guide for buying cruelty-free and vegan makeup. I have also noticed that they are constantly updating their information as changes occurs or new makeup lines arrive. It's an amazingly detailed guide.
Here is a quick list of the makeup products I use on the daily:
First, Cover FX Calming Primer
I noticed about a year and a half ago that my right cheek was becoming more sensitive to the makeup I was leaving on my face all day. At the same time, I began educating myself on cruelty-free makeup companies. I found Cover FX, a cruelty-free and 100% vegan company, and fell in love with their products. They have many different types of primers for different needs: anti-aging, blurring, mattifying, calming, and illuminating. I have tested the illuminating primer before. It has a nice, soft shimmer to it which makes a perfect primer for ladies' night or dinner dates with bae. But my go-to everyday primer has to be the calming primer. It feels lightweight and is perfect for preventing reactions on my sensitive skin.
Second, Cover FX E + Chamomile Custom Infusion Drops
Yet another reason why I am praising Cover FX so much today. They offer a unique product called custom infusion drops. (Unfortunately, I do not see this product offered directly on the Cover FX website. I continue to buy this product at Sephora instead or online at Ulta.) Again, they offer different custom infusion drops for different needs: calming, hydration, radiance, and anti-aging. I purchase the calming custom infusion drops to make sure that my sensitive skin isn't bothered by the makeup I put on it. It has a refreshing feeling and decent smell. I have definitely seen noticeable changes in the way my face feels after I remove my makeup at the end of the day.
I love that these drops are versatile. You can mix it with your moisturizer, apply it directly to your face, or mix it with your foundation. I choose to drop some of the E + Chamomile on my cream foundation to soften it up before I apply it to my face.
Third, Cover FX Total Cover Cream Foundation
I love the total cover cream foundation because it is lightweight on my face and provides flexibility in coverage. I can choose to put a little on my face for a minimal look or go full coverage for long days. Cover FX defines this foundation as "an antioxidant-rich cream foundation and concealer that provides radiant, full coverage." It is honestly one of the best foundations I have applied to my face, and I probably will never want to change foundations permanently.
Fourth, Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder
I have to make sure that all of the work I did up to this point in my makeup routine stays so it's setting powder time. I use the Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder because I always feel like it is best to use a setting powder and foundation from the same company. I assume that they know what is the best formula to achieve a locked in look for my whole day. I can be completely wrong, but it has worked so far so no complaints here.
Fifth, Cover FX Mattifying Setting Spray
Cover FX again? Yes! I stand by Cover FX products. I am never disappointed. And this setting spray? I absolutely love of course. They have four different types of setting sprays: mattifying, illuminating, their new high-performance spray, and the new dewy spray. I have not tested their new setting sprays yet but I will next. I have applied the illuminating spray before which gives a nice shimmery glow to the face. I like using the illuminating spray for nights out or days where I'll be outside to maintain my highlight. The mattifying spray is my go-to everyday setting spray.
Sixth, Kat Von D Lock-it Concealer Creme
If my eyes are extra baggy or dark, or my rosacea is super red, I go straight to my Kat Von D Concealer Creme. I like to put this on top of my Cover FX foundation because I want to make sure that it doesn't spread to other parts of my skin. Sometimes I'll apply this with my elf foundation brush or dab it with my purple makeup sponge.
Last, Nudestix Mascara and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer
Once I am positive my skin tone is even and polished, I emphasize my eyes. I do this by defining my eyebrows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer. I love this product because it creates a natural look for my eyebrows. I outline my eyebrows and fill them in only a little bit with the Brow Definer. Perfect for the everyday look. I finish my look with the Nudestix Mascara. I love this mascara because sometimes I do not need to use an eye curler with it. I'll use my eye curler only if I want my eyelashes to super extend out. Nudestix Mascara doesn't clump on the eyes or on the brush. It's a perfect vegan mascara.
If I have enough time in the morning, I apply my Banana Split Kylighter to make my every day look more glowy. This highlighter lasts all day and gives me a range for a low highlight to a super highlight.
