There's a deck waiting for you
Let me be honest about something 💚
I meet people all the time who are fascinated by tarot. They've seen a deck in a shop, watched a reading online, felt that little pull of curiosity — and then talked themselves right out of it. It's too complicated. I don't want to get it wrong. What if I'm not "spiritual" enough? Isn't tarot just fortune-telling?
If that's you, I made this workshop with you specifically in mind.
Tarot has lived alongside humanity for centuries — not as a crystal-ball parlor trick, but as a mirror. A tool for self-insight, reflection, and gentle honest conversation with yourself. And the truth is, anyone can learn it. You don't need a gift. You don't need a velvet cloth. You just need curiosity and a willingness to sit with the cards.
What we're doing on September 9
I'm honored to be invited back to McKinley Memorial Library for a free, in-depth, interactive workshop called "Unlocking the Deck: Tarot for the Curious Soul" — designed for anyone curious about tarot cards but unsure where to start.
Here's how the library describes it:
"A fun, in-depth, interactive workshop designed for anyone curious about tarot cards but unsure where to start. We'll demystify the deck through hands-on practice, exploring the big life lessons of the Major Arcana."
That's exactly the spirit. No theatrics. No fear-mongering. Just a warm, hands-on evening where you'll get to actually touch a deck, pull cards, and discover what they're really about — together with other curious souls.
Why I love teaching beginners
After 35+ years reading palms, cards, and energy, I can tell you the most joyful part of my work isn't the advanced stuff. It's the moment someone looks at a card they pulled and says, "Oh… that actually makes sense."
That moment — when tarot clicks — it changes people. Not because the cards told them their future, but because the cards gave them language for something they already felt. That's what tarot for beginners should be: an invitation, not a performance.
This is part of my bigger mission, too. I've spent my career pushing back against the fortune-telling stereotype. Tarot is wellness. It's self-insight. It's a way to sit with your own story. Libraries — the original homes of curiosity and learning — are the perfect place to reclaim that.
